1. Job Summary:
The Global Citizen Education Group is seeking an enthusiastic educator with expertise in introducing young learners (ages 9–12) to concepts of global citizenship, diplomacy, and Model United Nations (MUN). The trainer should either have an academic background in early childhood education, pedagogy, communications, international relations, political science, or other social sciences, combined with a strong ability to translate complex global issues into age-appropriate, engaging lessons.
Because the Junior curriculum focuses heavily on foundational skills—such as empathy, teamwork, simple debate, and understanding the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—trainers must be highly interactive and comfortable facilitating games, discussions, and creative projects. This position is based in Vietnam, and trainers are expected to reside locally and travel for on-site training programmes in Hanoi (if they are residing there) or have a strong internet connection for online programmes. The terms of engagement and remuneration will be on a per-programme basis as a freelancer, and candidates must have at least an undergraduate degree from a recognised school from the World Higher Education Database (WHED).
2. Responsibilities:
- Conduct highly engaging, interactive training sessions for children based on the Junior curriculum developed by The Global Citizen Education Group (e.g., facilitating activities like "Country Passports," "Team Diplomacy Games," and "Mock Voting").
- Simplify complex topics like international treaties, the United Nations, and global issues into relatable, play-based learning experiences.
- Provide encouraging feedback on students’ performance to build their confidence in public speaking and collaboration.
- Execute effective classroom management for small group lessons, ensuring an inclusive environment where young learners feel safe to share ideas respectfully.
- Tailor teaching methods and content to accommodate the diverse learning needs, energy levels, and interests of students aged 9 to 12
3. Qualifications:
- At least an undergraduate degree from an accredited school in the IAU WHED.
- Good command of the English language.
- Preferred 1-2 years of relevant teaching experience, specifically working with young children or facilitating youth programs.
- High energy, strong communication skills, and the patience required to manage and inspire younger students.
- Professional and able to work independently.
- Passionate about teaching.
4. Experience:
- Experience in debate coaching, youth leadership programs, or interactive classroom teaching is highly valued.
- Familiarity with MUN or similar activities is preferred, with an emphasis on knowing how to relax strict parliamentary procedures into basic "consensus building" and "simple solution drafting" for kids.
5. Recognised English Certifications:
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic (7.5/9.0)
- Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet-based test (TOEFL iBT) (95/120)
- Cambridge English Qualifications (C1 Advanced)
