Indonesia is experiencing rapid digital growth while facing urgent sustainability challenges such as air pollution in Jakarta, plastic waste pollution, urban flooding, and rising carbon emissions. Many students in Indonesia have already learned basic coding skills through schools and extracurricular programs. However, they are often not given clear direction on how to apply those skills to solve real world problems.
The Coding for Sustainability Workshop is a two day intensive program for students with basic coding knowledge. Using Python, students will strengthen their programming skills through guided lessons and hands-on practice while building a sustainability focused application such as a carbon footprint calculator or waste tracker.
Beyond the guided project, students will also design their own digital solutions that address sustainability challenges in Indonesia. By the end of the program, they will gain practical experience in applying coding to real world problems and develop initial prototypes that can be further refined for the upcoming hackathon.
